Stephen Jay Krizay 1956 – 2023

Stephen Jay Krizay of Leesburg, Virginia, everybody’s friend, passed away on Sunday September 3, 2023.
He left behind his wife and love of his life Stephenie Krizay, children Brynne Melissa Krizay, Kyle Stephen Krizay, Ashley Edwards, and Tyler Edwards (Rosemary), siblings Judith Grumbly (Tom), Thomas Krizay (Pam), Barbara Krizay Barlow (George), his latest delight, grandson Ashton Gale Heyer, and nieces and nephews Erin, Kate, Maureen, Natalie, and Paul, and his beloved dog Daisy. All were buoyed by Steve’s love of life and sweet nature.

February 21, 1956, to Margaret and Edward Krizay. After Steve graduated from
Langley High School in McLean, Virginia, in 1974, he went on to study at James Madison University,
graduating in 1978 with a degree in Accounting. After earning his CPA, he worked as an accountant and
financial officer at a variety of firms. He retired as Controller from the global company GHD in 2018.
A lifelong sports fan, he played rugby in high school and college, and after emotionally welcoming
baseball back to Washington, followed the Nationals with a passion.

Steve loved baseball, a beach anywhere he could find one, travel, music, and mostly celebrating life to the fullest with his family and many dear friends. Steve described favorite events in his life as magical, which is how we all felt about the many events in life we shared with him.
A memorial is being held with family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, Steve would have wanted
donations to be sent to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (bcan.org) or Life With Cancer
(lifewithcancer.org)
