Obituary for David M. Borowski
On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, David M. Borowski, dearly beloved husband of Kerry A. Cadden,
passed peacefully into eternal life at the age of 70 years in Vienna, Virginia. He was surrounded
in presence and prayer by family, friends and his beloved buddy Finn. Dave was the devoted
son of Joseph and Rita Borowski. He is survived by his brothers Joe (Linda), Larry (Pat), Billy
(Maryanne) and Michael, and his sister Diane. He was pre-deceased by his brother Danny (Teri)
and his sister Susan (Doug). Dave is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and their
children, as well as his many friends.
Dave was born in Cheektowaga, New York in 1954. He graduated from Maryvale High School in
1972 and Canisius College in 1979 where he majored in economics. He received a master’s
degree in economics and finance at SUNY Binghamton in 1981. In 1985 he moved to Arlington,
Virginia and worked at the Commodities Future Trading Commission in Washington, DC for
several years. He later served as a financial economist at Freddie Mac where he served for
nearly 30 years. Dave was a travel and car enthusiast, a loyal Buffalo Bills fan and a Buffalo wing
connoisseur. He was a true friend to many and a volunteer at numerous charitable
organizations, Dave and his wife Kerry were married in 1995.
Having survived a devastating burn injury as an infant, Dave and Kerry established a foundation
to support other burn survivors and their families through peer support and scholarships. Their
frequent visits to Virginia burn camps for children and to burn-injured veterans provided
support to both children and adults who endured injuries such as those Dave sustained. His
good humor, determination, faith and perseverance despite enormous challenges were an
inspiration all who met him. Not surprisingly, Dave was registered as an organ donor. The
morning following his passing, his bone tissue was harvested and immediately transplanted to a
patient who had been waiting for a bone graft, making Dave’s final act one that would improve
the life of one more person.

Truly a life well led in the service of others. Not many can say that while surmounting challenges that few can imagine. Our deepest sympathies to his wife, Kerry, a friend from Stony Brook University many, many years ago.
I knew Dave as a sweet, gentle person from working at Freddie Mac years ago. Sincere condolences to the family, and especially to his dear wife, Kerry, whom I also had the pleasure of working with at Freddie Mac. I still have my Shakespeare memento.
David was an amazing person . I had the priviledge and honor of working togther at Freddie Mac. His positive outlook was beyond description. After everything this wonderfu humble person endured throughout childhood and beyond, he never let his challenges get him down. He made a mission of helping others, one thing of many I admire about him. I missed connecting with him so much. I love David a ton, and will always keep in my memories.
Rest in peace, Dave – you are greatly missed. ✝️ ❤️
Dave was a good friend to both of us throughout his long career at Freddie Mac and beyond. We will miss his breezy confidence and optimistic outlook. His dedication to advocating for fellow burn victims and survivors was truly inspiring.
Our hearts go out to Kerry and his remaining family in this time of loss. We add our prayers for Dave’s peaceful rest in death and certain resurrection.
Dave will be so missed by so many people. He was a person of great optimism and hope. He was especially kind to me during my trials and tribulations during law school. Kerry was the love of his life and the two of them did so much together for each other and the community.
