It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our mother and grandma Barbara Pampel of Fairfax, Va. on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the age of 88. She was born on December 4, 1932, in Groton, Connecticut. In her early years she worked in New London as a bank teller and a power company billing specialist. She married her high school sweetheart and traveled the country as a devoted Navy wife and mother. She went on to work part time at Lord & Taylor, Wild Oats gift shop, and Banner gift shop.

Over the years she spent many days volunteering; she was a Girl Scout leader, school librarian assistant, room mother, Sunday school teacher at Fairfax Methodist Church, and served at the Fairfax Museum. She enjoyed garden club, spending time at Virginia Beach and traveling the world with her husband.

She is survived by her daughter Suzanne Shomers (and husband Joe) of Clifton, Va., daughter-in-law Heidi Pampel of Burke, Va., and four grandchildren. Preceding the death of her husband, Alban Pampel III and her son, David Pampel.

There will be a celebration of life on December 4, 2021 at Money and King Funeral Home (171 Maple Ave W) at 10:00am - 12:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on January 4th, 2022 at 9am.
