Guestbook

  1. Edna was like a mother to me for so many years. Her daughter Denise was my sister. I loved with them for many years off and on as Denise with me… Oh the stories of the gambling, bingo and honestly Edna could cook and most Sundays we had Sunday dinner on Legato Road with the family. I still have so many recipes in Edna’s handwriting.. Denise followed through and their potato salad, deviled eggs, butterfly porkchops and and a special coleslaw come to mind.. The potato salad and deviled eggs still to this day are the 1st request at every function. I’m so glad I was able to have a few conversations with Edna while she was still at the home but knew all that was still going on because the conversations were awesome and unforgettable. Hug Denise and Clayton for me Edna and we will all be together one day.. enjoying the Sunday dinners.. Love always your daughter Diane…. Heather I’m gonna put a lil book together for ya of her recipes in her handwriting and pics of those Sunday afternoons… Love you, she is so very proud of you…

  2. I will always fondly remember the times we went over to Maw (Edna), and Paw’s (Clayton) house when I was a kid. Many mornings, I remember waking up to the smell of freshly made breakfast, which Maw had lovingly made. That, and the trips to Friendly’s, and the Virginia Kitchen, where she would always enjoy a conversation with the staff.

The greatest privilege though, was to be able to spend my middle, and later teenage years constantly around Maw, after she moved in with my parents and me. I fondly remember me and her, getting in the car, as I would drive her various places to practice my driving when I had my learners permit. These places, typically being the Cracker Barrel up the road, someplace she and I shared many meals, and deep conversations. These small lunches, where it was just her and I, being some of my most cherished memories with her.

As much as she enjoyed going out and sitting down to eat though. Maw always enjoyed cooking as well. I always remember as a kid, absolutely loving her macaroni and cheese above all else. Though her breakfast, porkchops, and more were always highlights as well. She truly loved that southern cooking, her love for, and how quickly she went through butter, being a distinct highlight of that.

Edna went by many names other than Maw, but no matter what you knew her as, or how you knew her. She is someone who we will all miss dearly, and remember fondly. For as long as she is remembered, she will never be truly gone.

    I love you Maw.
