Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. As I was doing research on our family tree online, I came across Uncle Mike’s obituary. To say it was a shock is an understatement- I knew he had health issues. My father meant the world to me. I know Uncle Mike did to to you. Your pain must be enormous. Uncle Mike was very kind to me. I missed our yearly correspondence as his memory failed. I will miss him even more now. I saw first hand the special relationship Dad and Mike had when my father was ill. That’s the memory I want to hold on to now. I hope we can still stay in touch. It will help keep both their memories alive. Good bye Uncle Mike, I love you. Debby

  2. Sorry for you loss. Uncle Mike was so much fun at the farm. I remember him and his comments about everything from sports to life. He was always proud of all of you. I think of him many times throughout the year. The things he used to joke with me about. I remember the time he put his hands up against mine when I was about 9 he was larger than life. Or the time he joked with me about eating the seeds in NaNa’s coffee cake and they could grow inside of me. Uncle Mike will never be forgotten. He was a great man, and now my dad and him can be together.Sad for all of us great for them You will be missed Blair

  3. John, I just came across your Dad’s obit. I don’t know if you remember me. We played bb in summers of 65,66. I graduated from THS in 1967, and enjoyed playing BB for your Dad. Coach Mike always will be in my thoughts. He helped mold my future. I’ve lived in Indianapolis, IN for the past 35 years, and always wondered how your Dad was doing. Hope all is well your way. If you ever have time, I would love to hear more about Coach. My email is rogerdsteffen@gmail.com. Hope this reaches you.

  4. I played basketball for coach with Roger Steffen in the years 1965–67. We lovingly called him Boris because Boris Pasternak was so big in the 1960s. He was a wonderful coach to play for; he let us run and shoot and have fun. I don’t recall him ever yelling at a player (a real contrast to some coaches) even though we were sometimes frustrating. Coach had a lasting influence in my life and I will always be grateful to him. –Bob Wardrop

  5. I played for Coach 1965-1967 with Wardrop and Steffen.Im sorry for your lost. The Coach was a man with integrety who inspired his players to do their best. He had a positive influence in my life and I respected him as a coach and as a man. He will be missed !!!!!!!!
